Broken Top, a Central OR Classic

Back in August 2020, I had the chance to hike Broken Top with a good friend of mine and it was one of the most beautiful and accessible hikes I have done so far! We started our hike at Todd Lake, and you will need to purchase a day pass for parking. For the majority of the hike, my friend, Katherine, and I were hiking at a steady pace while able to maintain a casual conversation. You do not need to be in incredible shape to enjoy this hike but you do need to be prepared! What you will need is:

  • good hiking shoes (a must!)

  • plenty of water/snacks

  • either bug spray or clothing that will keep you covered to avoid getting eaten alive by mosquitos!

  • sunscreen

  • a hat for some shade

Along our way to the lake at the top, No Name Lake, the trail was exposed to plenty of sunlight and opened up to some incredible views. The trail was easy to follow and littered with wild flowers as well.

One of my favorite views I encountered on the trail was this stunning open view of Mount Bachelor. It was certainly an exciting hike with plenty to see along the way, even if you do not plan to hike all the way to the top!
